Kojo Yankah wins world award for contributing to education

Mr. Kojo Yankah, Founding President of African University College of Communications (AUCC), has been invited to receive an award for “Outstanding Contribution to Education” at World Education Congress (WEC) in Mumbai, India.

The event is scheduled for June 28 – June 30.

A statement issued by AUCC in Accra on Wednesday and copied to Ghana News Agency in Accra, said the Jury and Council of Board Members of WEC selected Mr. Yankah for his contribution to ‘benchmarking educational practices’ in founding AUCC and leading it to attain high academic and professional standards worldwide.

It said a citation read: “Your leadership and contribution to the field of education is well known. The position that you occupy in the fraternity is strategic and iconic. As a thinker and doer, you are a role model and a believer in change,”

The theme for the 2012 World Education Congress is “Learning in the 21st Century: Right and Access to Education.”

The congress would further explore how education can help develop mental, emotional and physical skills to help facilitate personal excellence as well as psychological and socio-economic well-being in the challenging times the world faces today.

In addition to networking opportunities, the conference would offer unique in-depth approaches to understanding important academic issues that affect an institution’s viability in today’s fast-paced business environment.

The WEC, a forum of academics, researchers, professionals and policy makers in education from all corners of the world, is focusing this year’s international meeting on influencing the evolving culture of education and educational pedagogy with the objective of deep systemic change, building on a vision and strategies for higher education institutions, providing exposure to latest education tools, technologies and solutions, and encouraging collaboration and partnership among institutions.**
