Kojo Yankah to visit US, Caribbean

Accra, May 19, GNA – Mr Kojo Yankah, President of African Institute of Journalism and Communication (AIJC), will leave Accra at the weekend for the United States and the Caribbean for academic guest speaking and PANAFEST engagements.

A statement signed by the Director of Studies, Nana Essilifie-Coduah said Mr Yankah would be away for two weeks, making a stop at the University of Ohio for collaboration talks between the University and AIJC.

“The deal between AIJC and the University of Ohio covers collaborative research, student and faculty exchanges, sharing of library resources online and other opportunities,” it said. Prof. Rafael Obregon, Director of Communication/Development Studies at the Ohio University, said the President of AIJC would speak on “The Media Landscape in Africa – Challenges of Development Communication” with particular reference to Ghana. He will also meet with faculty members.

Mr Yankah, who is the Chairman of PANAFEST, will later travel to Trinidad and Tobago where the Caribbean Historical Society has invited him as the Dinner Guest Speaker at this year’s African Liberation Day ceremonies in Port of Spain on the theme, “Pursuance of African Liberation and Impact of International Tends on its Development.” The statement said Mr Yankah would engage in discourse with scholars and other audience in Trinidad and Tobago in connection with promoting the next celebration of PANAFEST slated for July 23-August 1, 2007 in Ghana. 19 May 06
