Kojo Bonsu was a failure – Assemblyman

Kojo Bonsu, the immediate past Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), performed abysmally in office, hence his premature exit from office, Abraham Boadi, popularly known as Opooman, the Assembly Member of Nhyiaeso, has said.

He said the only project Mr Bonsu embarked on to develop Kumasi was the Rattray Park.

The park was built to enrich the lives of the residents of Kumasi by providing safe, affordable, recreational facilities and other services.

Mr Bonsu in July this year announced his resignation as KMA boss. In his resignation letter, he said: “I am happy at the strides made in the area of peace and development as well as the enduring legacy recorded during the period.”

He added: “…I wish the government well and I will continue to give of my best to ensure the re-election of President John Dramani Mahama in the upcoming elections.”

Speaking in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson regarding the deplorable condition of some of the streets in Kumasi, on Wednesday October 12, Opooman, who is seeking to be elected as Presiding Member of KMA, blamed the poor roads and streets in Kumasi on the former KMA boss, saying: “Kojo Bonsu did nothing good for Kumasi and, so, I am not surprised at the bad roads we see now. The only project he embarked on was the Rattray Park, and that was all.”

He stressed: “He (Kojo Bonsu) really underperformed; that was why pressure was mounted on him to resign.”
