Koforidua, March 9, GNA- A new 1.3-billion-cedi physiotherapy block was on Wednesday handed over by the contractors to the management of the Koforidua Regional Hospital at a short ceremony.
The block, which was funded by the Health Fund, was constructed by the Al-Zon Construction Limited while the equipment of the facility was provided by Enraf-Nonius of the Netherlands.
Receiving the keys of the block, the Eastern Regional Director of Health Services, Dr Ebenezer Appiah-Denkyirah, expressed his appreciation of the fact that the building was disabled-friendly to give opportunity to all Ghanaians to have access to facilities. He appealed to government to provide money for regular maintenance of the facility and the equipment for them to last long. The Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, Dr. Obeng Apori thanked the government and all those who contributed towards the provision of the block.
He said the facility, apart from helping in the rehabilitation of motor accident victims and people recovering from non-communicable diseases like stroke, it would also help in promoting the government’s health delivery programme by providing an environment for healthy people to regularly exercise their body to remain fit. Dr Apori said similar facilities existed at the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital, Mampong-Akuapem, St Joseph’s Hospital, Akim Oda and Kyebi Hospitals.
Mr Anto Berko Kakra of Fab-Arch Consult, consultants on the project, said among the facilities in the block include an electrotherapy unit and consulting room and children and adult exercising rooms.
