Koforidua Hospital honours Cuban Medical Brigade

Koforidua, Aug. 15, GNA- The Koforidua Regional Hospital on Friday, organized a farewell party in honour of three Cuban Doctors and an anaesthetic who had completed a two-year duty at the hospital. The four Cuban Medical staff, who would be leaving for Cuba this month, were presented with certificates of appreciation and parcels from the staff of the hospital.

In a speech, the Eastern Regional Director of Health Services, Dr Ebenezer Appiah-Denkyira, on behalf of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), thanked the 20 member-Cuban Medical Brigade who worked in the Eastern Region.

He said his office tried to have their stay extended but the Cuban Embassy maintain that the established tradition was that after two years, the members of the Cuban Medical Brigade would have to go back to Cuba.

Earlier, the Medical Superintendent of the Hospital Dr Obeng Apori urged the Cuban Doctors who worked at the Regional Hospital to send home sweet memories of Ghana and encourage other Cuban Doctors to come and test the hospitality of Ghanaians.
