Kofi Jumah charged

Former Member of Parliament for Asokwa Constituency, Maxwell Kofi Jumah; has been charged by a Kumasi court for destruction of electoral materials, causing of unlawful damage and offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace.

Mr. Jumah nearly disrupted parliamentary primaries in the Asokwa constituency when he created a scene after tearing the electoral register and scattering electoral materials at the venue.

According to reports, he was dissatisfied with the voters register that was being used. He was subsequently handcuffed and sent to the Asokwa police station before he was bailed by the regional chairman, Chairman Wuntumi.

Mr. Jumah, who is a former mayor of Kumasi and Local Government Minister under the erstwhile Kufuor administration, may be banned from participating in any election for the next five years or convicted to serve a prison term or both, this is the view shared by legal practitioner, Mr. Sampson Lardi Ayenini.
