Kofi Boakye: ‘I owe my success to noninterference’

Ashanti regional Police Commander, DCOP Kofi Boakye has attributed his success in taming crime in the region to the noninterference stance of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and Regional Minister, Samuel Sarpong.

According to him, the decision by these two key leaders not to shield criminals regardless of their political and social connections in society has embolden his fight against crime in region.

Speaking to Kojo Yankson on the Super Morning Show on Joy FM, Thursday, Boakye said he will do everything possible to reduce crime to the barest minimum in the Region.

He said he has managed to dismantle the various criminal gangs that existed in the region prior to his posting there.

He added: “I insisted upon my arrival in the region that there will be no commander apart from me. Because I’m the only commander and so shall it be”.

Boakye added that his conviction as a police officer is to serve all governments regardless of which political party is in power.

He noted that his actions are never motivated by political inclinations.
