Kofi Annan: Respect human rights, rule of law

Former UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan, has said; “no society can remain prosperous for long without respect for human rights and the rule of law”.

According to him, respect for human rights and the rule of law is one of the three main pillars on which any society can develop.

Additionally, Mr Annan said; “There can be no long-term security without development”.

Similarly, he warned that; “There can be no long-term development without security”.

He said recently in Geneva- Switzerland, that it is very important that; “Healthy and democratic societies must be built on solid foundations”.
