Kofi Adams unable to retrieve vehicles from police on orders of Lord Commey

National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Kofi Adams has written to the Acting Inspector General of Police to use his high office to order the release of his five vehicles from police custody.

According to Mr Adams, the vehicles are in the custody of the police unlawfully. In the letter intercepted by 3news.com, Mr Adams says he was prevented from reclaiming his vehicles by officers, who claimed they were acting on the orders of Head of Operations at the Presidency Lord Oblitey Commey. Some men on February 1, stormed the Golf City residence of Mr Adams to seize vehicles they claimed belong to the state.

The NDC executive was out of the country then and so he ordered the cars to be sent to the police when the later identified men were directed by the Minister for National Security to return the vehicles.

But upon returning to the country on Tuesday, February 7, Mr Adams was not allowed access to his vehicles as the officers claimed he was under investigation.

“Respectfully, our client is not undergoing any judicial or quasi-judicial process whatsoever in the instant matter, neither are the vehicles the subject of any ongoing criminal process,” the letter written on behalf of Mr Adams by his lawyers A-Partners @ Law said.

“There being no legal justification whatsoever for the complained acts, our client requests that you take steps immediately to terminate the unlawful detention of said vehicles any further by releasing same to him forthwith.”
