Kofi Adams calls for prayers for President Mahama

Mr Kofi Adams, spokesperson for former President Jerry John Rawlings, has asked for prayers of support for President John Mahama and parliamentary candidates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of Friday’s elections.

Mr Adams also sought prayers for Ghana as well as all the candidates contesting the 2012 elections when he joined President Rawlings to pay a courtesy call on the Regent of Dagbon, Kampakuya-Na Andani Yakubu Abdulai at the Gbewaa Palace, Yendi recently.

A statement issued from the Office of the former President, said Mr Adams also urged the leadership of the NDC to recognise the contribution of party elders, especially former executives at various levels and to consult them regularly for advice.

“NDC is a party of the people. It should never be turned into a party of the few. We should consult and reach out to the elderly,” he said.

Mr Adams told the Regent of Dagbon and his elders that it was welcoming to see an atmosphere of brotherliness and peace in Yendi, and cautioned that the peace could not be toyed with.

“We need peace for development, and in the same vein we need justice to be able to have peace. When we treat our fellow human beings the way we treat ourselves there will be justice, and once there is justice, there will be peace,” Mr Adams said.

The spokesman for the former President also called on the youth to support their elders to bring about development in their communities, and saluted them for sacrificing in various ways to bring about a stable state of affairs in Dagbon.

“Some have lost their lives in the course of achieving peace; some lost their lives standing by the truth. That must guide us and we must not allow these lives to go waste,” Mr Adams said.
