In all, one hundred and fifty (158) delegates from the various universities voted with 15 representing the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi campus.
The congress held at the Brong Ahafo regional capital Sunyani, saw delegates from many of the universities from various parts of Ghana trooping to the congress grounds over the weekend to elect new executives for the Association as well as partake in other deliberations.
A planned demonstration against the ruling government by the delegates against the government of the day on its alleged poor handling of issues affecting the university student in Ghana was called off for unexplained reasons.
Speaking to newsmen later in an interview, Mr. Innocent Badasu urged students to expect a radical change in the affairs of the Association, adding that he will be a man of action and not just a good speech maker as some student politicians have become. He also extended his gratitude to the delegates for heeding the voice of reason and voting him as the solution to USAG’s problems. He also praised the students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology for the massive support they provided.
