KNUST SRC to support orphan students financially

The Students Representative Council of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has introduced a unique scheme to help orphan students to continue their education at the University without impediments.

The scheme dubbed SRC life policy does not require any special payments by students outside their regular SRC dues.

In an interview with Ultimate Radio, the SRC President, Caleb Fugah, said “the students have the responsibility of paying their dues to the SRC, and we equally have the responsibility of using the money to enhance their welfare on campus, so they don’t have to pay anything” he noted.

Caleb told Ultimate Radio the scheme was instituted after a survey conducted by the SRC revealed that many of the university students dropped out after the death of a guardian or a parent due to financial challenges.

He says beneficiaries will be assisted to pay their tuition and hostel fees, adding that the initiative is just one of several measures aimed at promoting the welfare of students of the University.
