Kumasi, Jan. 5, GNA – The Medical Students Association of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has organized a mini clinic for the Kumasi Children’s Home as part of activities marking the yuletide.
The students dewormed about 93 children and administered prescribed drugs on those diagnosed with some specific ailments. The Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District Health Directorate and a number of corporate institutions in Kumasi sponsored the clinic to provide practical training for the students.
Mr Senam K Djokoto, President of the Association later presented food items worth over five million cedis to the Home. The items included two bags of rice, one bag of maize, 20 cartons of fruit drinks, boxes of biscuits, toiletries and assorted drugs. Mr Djokoto told the Ghana News Agency that the items were the Association’s “widow’s mite” towards the upkeep of the children whose happiness depended on societal support.
He pledged that the Association would adopt the Home to pave the way for regular treatment to ensure that the children were kept in good health to enjoy life to the fullest.
Madam Victoria Asugnya, Supervisor of the Home, who received the items thanked the Association for the gesture and goodwill and expressed the hope that the Association would continue to support the Home.
