Kumasi, April 1, GNA – Mrs Vesta Adu-Gyamfi, Dean, Faculty of Industrial Art, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST= ), has encouraged school children to cherish the habit of reading to help broaden their knowledge.
She said reading wide would not only broaden their knowledge, but significantly improved their ability to think, plan and solve problems. Mrs Adu-Gyamfi was speaking at the launch of the “Creative Thinkers Writ= ers Club” of KNUST primary school in Kumasi.
The 60-member Club is aimed at nurturing the creative thinking and writi= ng skills of pupils towards their total development and growth. The Dean called on all the children to join the Club, telling them that it was in their own interest to do that.
Dr Mariama Ross, Lecturer, Department of General Art Studies, said creativity and talents grew with regular practice and therefore asked the=
students to make every necessary effort to develop their talents through writing. They should not only be creative thinkers but implement any good ideas t= hey come up with to aid national development. She suggested that the Club should be extended to schools throughout the=
country. Mr Francis Asare, the Head teacher, described the launch as “a dream com= e through.”
