KMA to host Ivoirian delegation

Kumasi, Aug 18, GNA – The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), on Tuesday released activities to mark the first Ghana-Ivoirean Week, in Kumasi.

The celebration, which begins on August 24, is aimed at promoting good neighbourliness between Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire as well as cementing the sister-city relationship between Kumasi and Treichville, in Cote d’Ivoire.

Briefing the media in Kumasi, Mr Maxwell Kofi Jumah, KMA Chief Executive, said the celebration would not only expose the culture and traditions of the people of Kumasi to their counterparts in Treichville, but would also promote tourism.

He said the sister-city relationship between Kumasi and Treichville was aimed at fostering good relationship among the people in the two cities and to promote trade and investment to push the two cities towards economic co-operation.

Mr Jumah said through the relationship, Kumasi was positioning itself as a leading promoter of the sub-regional integration and the NEPAD initiative.

Among the activities are a Trade and Investment Forum, Trade Fair and exhibition of products from the two cities, tour of historical and cultural sites in Kumasi, football match between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Africa Sports, a durbar of chiefs and people of Kumasi and cultural performances.

Mr Jumah appealed to the media to support the Assembly to ensure the successful implementation of the activities.
