Kumasi, Sept 22, GNA- The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) says it would eject all those occupying stores situated on the Guggisberg Road, opposite the Patterson and Zachonis (PZ) in Kumasi since they had not submitted proof of payment for the construction of the stores. A statement issued by the KMA in Kumasi on Tuesday and signed by Mr Kwame Frimpong, the Public Relations Officer, however, assured the public that the Assembly would not allocate the stores to some other group of persons other than the original owners.
It said, however, that people should show proof of the various sums of money paid towards the construction of the three-storey block of stores as was published in the August 23, 2004 issue of the “Pioneer’ and other media.
The statement said in spite of the publication and the deadline, August 21, 2004, only five persons had presented their receipts. It said given the circumstances, it was erroneous for any person or group of persons to believe that the AMA would allocate the stores to some other group of persons other than the original occupiers.
The Assembly said it remained at all times committed to legality, transparency, fairness and professionalism in all its dealings with the public and in particular traders who were encouraged to bring their lawyers to deal with the assembly if they so preferred.
