KMA to decide on nominated Kumasi mayor Friday

Members of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly will meet on Friday, March 17 to decide on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s nominee for Chief Executive.

President Akufo-Addo on Friday named Osei Assibey Antwi as his nominee for Kumasi mayor. He had also nominated three others for Tamale, Accra and Sekondi-Takoradi.

In a summons notice to the members of KMA, Presiding Member Abraham Boadi listed as one of the agenda the ‘Approval of the President’s nominee for the position of Metropolitan Chief Executive’.

It is likely the president’s nominee will be approved.

The meeting will take place at True Vine Hotel at Adiebeba-Kumasi.

If approved, Mr Assibey Antwi, a deputy regional minister in the erstwhile New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, will succeed Kojo Bonsu, who was forced to resign before the end of his tenure.
