KMA interdicts three city guards

Authorities of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) on Thursday interdicted three metro guards for misconduct and assault of a police officer.

Michael Asare Yeboah, Stephen A.D. Shittor and George, allegedly abandoned their duty post, went to the Kejetia traffic light intersection near the Kumasi Zoo and engaged in unauthorized conduct.

A police officer who sought to question their bad behavior was reportedly assaulted.

Mr Godwin Okumah Nyame, Public Relations Officer of the KMA, said in a statement that the decision to interdict them followed preliminary investigations conducted by the assembly.

The incident happened on Friday, April 20.

The statement said the three would appear before a disciplinary committee to answer for their alleged improper conduct and added that, the assembly would ensure that its workers go about their duties professionally.

It said KMA would never condone acts of misconduct or indiscipline on the part of any employee, and appealed to the public to be bold and report any wrongdoing by its officials.**
