KMA elects Amakomhene as new Presiding Member

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assemby has elected the Amakomhene of Kumasi Nana Adu Mensah Asare as the new Presiding member.

Nana Adu Mensah who contested as a lone candidate secured 123 votes in support of his candidacy and 22 against.

His election ends the protracted electoral impasse between the NDC and NPP supporters within the assembly.

The assembly has failed in seven different elections to elect a presiding member.

The chief who was nominated by the Kumasi Traditional Council is considered a compromise candidate following the failure of either of the two contesting candidates to secure the required votes to emerge winner in previous elections.
