KMA declares “special tree planting day” on saturday.

As part of pragmatic efforts at greening Kumasi in tandem with the Kumasi Urban Forestry Project, “Me and My Tree”, the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly has declared Saturday a “special tree planting day” in the Metropolis.
The day is aimed at planting five thousand trees in addition to the five thousand already planted as part of the Assembly’s plans of planting one million tress within the Metropolis by 2017.
In a media statement, the Public Relations Manager of the KMA, Mr. Godwin Okumah Nyame, called on stakeholders including Financial Institutions, Traditional Authorities, Religious Bodies, Fun Clubs, the Media, Market women, Youth groups as well as the general public to join in the exercise which starts from 7am.
According to the statement, seedlings would be made available at various sub-Metro Councils for collection.
While urging the public to massively patronize the exercise, the statement charged drivers along various roads designated for the exercise to drive with caution to avoid any calamities.
Areas earmarked for the exercise include, the Accra-Asafo-Bebre Road. The Anloga Junction-Airport Roundabout-Suame Roundabout. The Anloga Junction-Asokwa inter-change and the Asafo Ahmadiya Roundabout-Coca Cola road.
