KMA Chief Executive lauded for his efforts

Kumasi, Aug 22, GNA – Mr Samuel Sarpong, Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of Kumasi, was at the weekend praised for his vision and commitment to duty that had resulted in substantial development and progress to the area recently.

A statement signed by Nana Michael Ampong, President of the Movement for Development, a Kumasi-based pro-democracy group, cited the improvement in street lighting system and sanitation as some of the achievements. Others were sustenance of the decongestion exercise, construction of satellite markets and efforts to improve infrastructure in basic schools.

The statement called on the people to support the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) in its efforts to restore Kumasi to its status as the “Garden City of West Africa”. It appealed to the residents to remain law-abiding and assist KMA to enforce sanitation bye-laws to avoid the spread of diseases. The statement advised them to pay their taxes regularly and promptly to enable the Assembly to generate more revenue for development.
