Klimovic Hospital celebrates 30 years

Gyahadze (C/R), Aug 31, GNA – The Klimovic Memorial Hospital at Winneba had an outreach programme and made presentation at Rafiki Satellite Methodist Orphanage Village at Gyahadze to mark its 30th anniversary.

Children of the orphanage and surrounding communities received free screening, treatment, drugs and other gifts.

The medical Director of the Hospital, Dr Isaac Mandoh Botchey, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that he named his hospital after his mentor, the late Dr Franz Klimovic, a Czech.

The hospital opened on August 3, 1981 with a staff of nine

Dr Botchey said the 30-bed hospital has a laboratory, a theatre, a pharmacy, maternity, male, female and children’s wards with three consulting rooms.

Klimovic Memorial Hospital is a National Health Insurance Service provider with an average of 105 out-patients a day.

Dr Botchwey said the hospital has launched a two-year development plan to enable the hospital to employ additional medical officers, a pharmacist and a nurse anaesthetist.

Ms Eunice Arko-Mensah, a pioneer nurse, Mrs Rose Botchey, administrator, Mr Affedzie Derby, Ms Caroline Essiedu and Ms Francesca Nyame were honoured for their long and meritorious services.

Dr Botchey also serves as a board member of the Rafiki Orphanage Village.

Very Rev Ekow Sey, Village Director of the Orphanage who received the items, expressed appreciation for the donation and said “We are aware of your continuous support and assistance since the establishment of the orphanage in 2007.”

The items include rice, milk, soft drinks, bread, drugs, disinfectants, under-wears and clothing.

Rev Sey said the Village has 14 boys and 11 girls between the ages of one and nine at the nursery and primary school levels, and a staff of 23.
