KKD ‘rape’ saga: Police to go for CCTV evidence

The Airport Police Command is considering going for the Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) recordings from the African Regent Hotel in their investigations regarding the sexual assault complaint leveled against Fashion icon, Kwasi Kyei Darkwah.

According to the Public Affairs Director of the Accra Regional Police command, ASP Afia Tenge, the Police will explore all necessary avenues to establish the truth in the matter.

She told StarrFMonline.com that the Service will not “hesitate to seek a court order”, if that is what it will take to secure credible evidence to bring a conclusion to the matter.

KKD, as the ace broadcaster is popularly known, was arrested Saturday night following a complaint filed by a 19-year-old girl against him.

The victim alleged that the CEO of the Finest Productions sexually assaulted her at the African Regent Hotel while they both lodged there.

KKD has denied the allegation. He insists he had consensual sexual intercourse with the teenager.

On Sunday, Officers from the criminal investigations department of the Ghana Police service went to the crime scene, together with the celebrated suspect – a father of two – to inspect the place of the alleged incident.

Rape is a non-bailable offence in Ghana. If convicted, KKD could be handed down a prison sentence of between five and 25 years.
