KKD “admired” his rape victim’s height

Ace broadcaster Kwasi Kyei Darkwah “admired” the height of 19-year-old Awuraffe Orleans Thompson before allegedly raping her in the bathroom of a suite at the African Regent Hotel in the Airport residential area, according to the charge sheet presented by the state prosecution to a District Magistrate Court hearing the sexual assault case.

According to the sheet, KKD “who admired the height of the complainant” asked her and her cousin to accompany them to the hotel room to powder his face before a fashion show at the hotel on Saturday December 27, 2014.

Kwasi Kyei Darkwah was denied bail on his first court appearance Tuesday and is billed to reappear January 8 next year.

The 49-year-old father of two has been in the custody of the Airport Police Command since Saturday after the alleged incident took place.

He has denied raping the young student and insists the sex was consensual.

A family member of the CEO of the Finest Productions recently told the media he suspects blackmail and foul play in the whole affair.

Rape is a non-bailable offence in Ghana and carries a sentence of between five and 25 years.
