The Kintampo district office of the department of community development has initiated a programme to help improve the living standard of the people. Among others, it will promote adult literacy, home management, child care and nutrition, environmental protection and sanitation and civic awareness among the people. The district principal community development officer, Mr. Emmanuel Bidze Sillim told the GNA at Kintampo that the programme is also meant to enable the people to contribute towards the development of their communities. He said the department of community development will collaborate with other agencies including the Ministry of Health, Agricultural extension services and banking institutions to explain government policies and programmes. Mr. Sillim stressed the need for the people to cultivate the culture of ‘self-help’ to attract support from the government and Non- Governmental Organisations (NGO’s).
