Kintampo Falls accident ‘tragic’ – Mahama

Former President John Dramani Mahama has consoled families of the students of Wenchi Senior High School and others who perished at Kintampo Falls on Sunday 19 March.

18 persons have been confirmed dead by Chief Superintendent Desmond Owusu Boampong, Kintampo Police Divisional Commander.

The students, who were swimming at the base of the waterfall, lost their lives when a nearby tree broke and fell on them following an earlier rainstorm in the area.

Mr Mahama, in a tweet on Monday, described the accident as “tragic”.

“Very sad news of tragic deaths at the Kintampo waterfalls. Sincerest condolences to families of the victims,” Mr Mahama wrote.
