Killer Driver arrested after two years

Accra June 14, GNA – The Police have arrested a Driver, who went into hiding for almost two years, after causing an accident in which three persons were killed.

An Accra Circuit Court on Monday remanded Kwabena Gyamfi, the Driver, in Police Custody to reappear on June 28. His plea was not taken.

Gyamfi is facing charges of reckless driving, failing to attend to injured persons and failing to report an accident.

Police Inspector Bernard Darfour, giving details on the incident, said on July 17, 2002, the Gyamfi drove a tipper truck recklessly and hit the rear of a vehicle ahead of him and in the process killed one David Mensah a passenger on board of the other vehicle instantly near the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation Junction on the Kasoa – Accra road. Two other victims, Solomon Ekow Torto and George Ankomah also died on admission at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

The accused went into hiding and was spotted recently in Kasoa. 14 June 04
