KIDDAFEST Launched In Accra

Accra,(Greater Accra) 21 Oct. The Accra Metropolitan Chief Executive, Mr. Nat Nuno-Amarteifio, today launched in Accra the fourth International Children’s Arts Festival, Kiddafest ’97 which aims at unearthing talents in children. The five-day festival to be organised by AMA and the National Theatre of Ghana starts from December 18 to 22 and is under the theme ”Our Diversity, Our Strength”. It aims, among others, to unearth talents in children and expose them to their cultural heritage. The festival, to be held at the National Theatre, has since its inception grown to become an international event which has attracted audience and young performers from all over the world. Japan, Britain, Denmark, Zimbabwe and South Africa have expressed interest in this year’s festival. Mr. Nuno-Amarteifio said the theme for the festival is appropriate since ”it takes all Ghanaians to contribute to the development of the country.” He expressed the hope that the event will be extended to other regions since it is important to involve all children in events which expose diverse talents and culture. ”We must create the artiste of tomorrow by encouraging them today,” Mr. Nuno-Amarteifio said.
