Student Counselor, Amos Kevin Annan has commended President John Dramani Mahama for publicly declaring his stance on gay rights.
“I am commending the President for the categorical statement issued on his behalf and on behalf of our nation, beloved Ghana that as far as his leadership team is concerned.”
Mr. Kevin Annan called on the President to do so after he accused him of having close associations with a well-known gay rights activist, Andrew Solomon.
The President denied this association and stated clearly he did not support homosexuality.
Speaking to Citi News, Mr. Annan opined that Ghanaians can now breathe a sigh of relief knowing the President’s stance on the matter.
According to him, “his interest was the interest of our father [God] needed to be protected. Knowing what a picture can do, a picture is worth a thousand words and therefore, so as our President of the leadership team of this country is not hijacked or certain parochial interest groups.”
He expressed great satisfaction for the President’s stance on the issue and commended President Mahama for his quick response to his “humble but urgent need. We will all solicit a prayer for the leadership. As a Christian, the Bible says we should pray for those in authority and I think that we need to constantly pray for our leaders so that they will be protected from people who seek to draw rings around them.”
