Kennedy Agyepong Sued For Gh¢1m Damages

A bankroller of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alfred Woyome, has sued opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) firebrand Kennedy Agyepong for defamation and is demanding GhC1 million ($610,314) as damages.

Mr. Woyome is in court to muzzle the NPP MP for Assin North from using uncharitable words against him.

Mr. Agyepong is being dragged to the Accra High Court to cough out GhC1 million as damages for describing the NDC financier as “a thief, a corrupt conman, a criminal and a crook not worth trusting by President Mills. ”

Woyome averred in his writ of summons that Mr. Agyepong rained the insults on him when he spoke to various radio and television stations in Ghana about a GhC42 million judgment debt awarded him for the termination of his appointment to renovate some stadia in the country ahead of Ghana’s hosting of the 2008 African Cup of Nations.

He is also praying the court for a perpetual injunction order to be placed on the NPP legislator restraining him from ever using such words against him.

The legal counsel for Woyome, Robertson Kpatsa told Citi News the suit is meant to cleanse his client’s image.
