Kennedy Agyapong to contest NPP flagbearership 2016 if…

Two big stalwarts of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong and Mr. George Ayisi Boateng have expressed interest to contest for the flagbearership of the party when nominations are officially opened by party executives.

Kennedy Agyapong, NPP Member of Parliament for Assin-North who spoke to HELLO FM’s King Edward on Thursday said he will not miss picking forms to contest if all the agitations of Nana Addo leading the party for the 2016 elections does not cease.

He added that it is about time the party hierarchy sat down to discuss the way forward and focus on how they can win elections rather than creating unnecessary confusion in the party; looking for who leads the party in 2016.

“There are many issues that need to be solved before we push for a flagbearer. What’s important is for us to be united. There is a canker eating up the party… if you’ve gone for an election, you sit and analyze the situation – what caused the defeat and what can we do to change whatever happened? But all we are doing is lobbying for one person… while the problem remains unsolved. We need to address the problems in the party otherwise we will always be defeated,” he said.

On his part, leading regional council member of the party, Mr. George Ayisi Boateng also disclosed his interest to lead the NPP to win the 2016 elections because according to him, it is not about Nana Addo or any other person but a person who can win the 2016 general elections for the party.
