Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper has said that from credible sources, he believes that Kennedy Agyapong has made an appearance before the NPP’s Disciplinary Committee (DC) upon an invitation and what he is doing now is just public posturing.
“The information I have, which I believe is that, Mr. Kennedy Agyapong has actually been invited to the Disciplinary Committee (DC) and he has made an appearance…what he is doing now is public posturing,” says Kwesi Pratt Jnr.
Kwesi Pratt Jnr. made this disclosure on Metro TV’s ‘Good Morning Ghana’ program during a panel discussion of a threat issued by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central to quit the New Patriotic Party (NPP) if the current National Executives are voted back into office.
In his view, the sitting executives headed by the National Chairman, Jake Otanka Obetsebi- Lamptey diverted party logistics meant for the 2012 general elections, so therefore must not be retained in office.
This allegation by the Assin Central MP has been met with mixed reaction, with many calling for an investigation into the activities of the National Executives of the party, in order to ascertain the veracity or otherwise of the claim.
However, there are those who believe that Hon. Ken Agyapong should be hauled before the Disciplinary Committee (DC) for bringing the name of the party into disrepute.
But the MP for Assin Central, who is said to be one of the biggest financiers of the party, dared the leadership of the NPP to drag him before the Disciplinary Committee.
Nonetheless, Mr. Pratt, a seasoned Journalist says credible information available to him points to the fact that Hon. Kennedy Agyapong has indeed appeared before the DC of the party and is only ‘playing to the public gallery’.
“…He has been invited by the disciplinary committee and the Disciplinary Committee has interrogated him once. So the Disciplinary Committee is working. It is not like the Disciplinary Committee is afraid of him or something. The problem is that, such disciplinary processes takes time,” he added.
