Kejetia traders hit streets with ‘Y’ate abr?’ demo

Traders of Kejetia’s central market have carried out their threat of hitting the streets over the reconstruction of the market.

They have been accusing the Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Kojo Bonsu, of sidelining them in negotiations to relocate them while construction work on the $300 million project is carried out.

Dubbed Y’ate abr?, the demonstration on Wednesday, March 25 has attracted hundreds of traders mostly members of the Concerned Krofrom Traders Association.

They have vowed to resist any attempt to eject them, TV3’s correspondent, Ibrahim Abubakar reported.

He also reported that the traders are accusing three New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament of conniving with Mr Bonsu to deny them of their source of livelihood.
