Kejebil youth block road to protest against bad road

Over 5,000 youth in Kejebil in the Ahanta West District on Monday blocked the access road from Kejebil to Apowa, to protest against the bad condition of the road.

The youth said heavy articulated trucks that convey cocoa beans to COCOBOD warehouses at Kejebil had worsened the road.

The Kwesimintsim District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police Yakubu Aklogo Agamga, confirmed the road blockade to the GNA in an interview.

He said the youth burnt lorry tyres amidst singing of war songs on the 16-kilometre road from Kejebil to Apowa.

The protest created heavy traffic jam on that stretch of the road which delayed workers coming from Agona Nkwanta to Takoradi for work on Monday morning.

Police personnel were dispatched from Kwesiminstim and Takoradi Police Division to the scene to calm the situation.

The protesters were demanding that COCOBOD rehabilitate the road, arguing that they had made the demand but COCOBOD had not responded, hence the demonstration.**
