Keep Ghana Peaceful – UK & Ireland NDC Youth Wing Urges Ghanaians

London 28th August 2013

On the eve of Supreme Court verdict on the petition challenging 2012 election results of Ghana, the entire membership of NDC UK & Ireland Chapter Youth Wing urges all Ghanaians to stay calm and avoid comments or acts that have the tendency to trigger violence and lawlessness.

We are confident that the Supreme Court of Ghana will deliver a verdict that demonstrates the sovereign will of the people of Ghana on whose behalf they exercise judicial authority. We particularly call on the Youth of Ghana to stay loyal to the State, avoid all acts of violence and intimidation post-election petition verdict and offer full support and cooperation to law enforcement agencies in protecting the peace and stability of Ghana. We challenge the Ghanaian media to exercise good judgement and discretion.

Ghana’s democratic credentials in the eyes of the international community remain unquestionable. It is our fervent hope that political actors and the entire people of Ghana will jealously protect this reputation after the verdict and work together in developing our motherland. God Bless us all.
