KEEA assembly provides bridge to link two communities

Abee (C/R), Nov. 26, GNA- A 120-million cedi steel footbridge, constructed over the ‘sweet river’ to link the two communities of Abee and Amissano in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem (KEEA) district, was commissioned at a ceremony on Friday.

The bridge, which was financed by the District Assembly from its share of the Common Fund, will provide easy access to Amissano, where most of the children in Abee attend school, and hitherto had to walk a long distance to reach school.

In his address, Nana Ato-Arthur, the District Chief Executive (DCE), urged the people to use the bridge judiciously, and endeavour to ensure that it is properly maintained to prolong its life-span. On the forthcoming elections, he warned the people to conduct their political activities in a manner that would not disturb the peace prevailing in the area.

The DCE urged the people to vote massively for President Kufuor and Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, the Convention People’s Party (CPP) parliamentary candidate for KEEA constituency to enhance the socio-economic development of the area.

Dr Nduom, on his part, assured the people that the town’s electricity problems would be taken care of as soon as elections were over, adding that, streetlights would be provided immediately. He urged them to “vote wisely” to promote the rapid development of the area.

The bridge, was later jointly commissioned by Nana Arthur, Dr Nduom, Nana Ato Kwamina, the regent of Abee and Mr Sylvester Gyaban, assembly member for Abee-Simiw electoral area.
