Kumasi, Aug 18, GNA – The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) has taken delivery of a $35,000 Radio Frequency Generator (RFG) to aid the treatment of tumors and snoring.

RFG generates heat and burns cancerous cells. It was a donation from the Shanghai Hengxin Medical Devices Company Limited of China, manufacturers of medical equipment. Mr Yu Shao Heng, a representative of the company, said this was their contribution towards upgrading the facilities at the hospital. He said they were determined to explore areas they could be of support to the facility.

Mr Yu also spoke of plans to establish an exchange programme with KATH under which some health personnel would have the opportunity to visit the company in China to learn more about its products. Receiving the equipment Dr Baafour Awuah, Medical Director of KATH, thanked the company for the gesture and said being a referral and teaching facility it was important to improve its infrastructure to keep pace with technological changes.
