The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) has taken delivery of Ebola Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs), valued at $ 20,000, to strengthen its emergency response to the deadly disease.
The items include overalls, face shields, sprayers, goggles, boots and headgear.
These were given to the hospital, the second largest referral facility in the country, by Tullow- Ghana.
Dr Ernest Nagali, Health Advisor of Company, said the gift was aimed at providing adequate protection for the health workers in the event of the outbreak of the viral hemorrhagic Ebola fever.
He said the nation does not have enough medical professionals and that is why everything must be done to protect the few.
Dr Joseph Akpaloo, Chief Executive Officer of KATH, thanked the Company for the gesture and called on all to remain on the alert and accept to do the right things to keep themselves safe.
The 2014 outbreak of Ebola in West Africa is the largest in history, affecting multiple of countries, with Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea, the hardest hit.
It is spread through contact with body fluids of an infected person.
