KATH organises VIP auction sale to raise funds

Kumasi, March 6, GNA – The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi on Friday organised a Very Important Personality (VIP) charity auction sales to raise funds to support its endowment fund. The fund, which was established as part of the 50th Anniversary celebrations of the hospital was aimed at making funds available at all times to enable the hospital achieve its vision of becoming a centre of excellence in the next four years.

Among the items auctioned at the ceremony were paintings and drawings donated by Mr Kofi Agorsor, a renowned Ghanaian artist, the best 16 paintings of the Unilever Children’s Painting Contest and clothes used by Mr Kwaku Sakyi Addo, a journalist, to interview Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene and President John Agyekum Kufuor for the first time when they ascended their various positions.

Other donors were Mr Kofi Ansah, a fashion designer, Mr Kwaku Sintim-Misa, a comedian, Miss Joyce Aryee, Chief Executive of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Mr Regie Rock stone, a hiplife musician and Whirlpool, dealers in home appliances.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Anthony Nsiah-Asare, Chief Executive of KATH, thanked the donors for the gesture. He said it was important for Ghanaians to learn to give charity to support health care delivery in the country.

Dr Nsiah-Asare said KATH’s vision of becoming a centre of excellence was on course and appealed to individuals and organisations to contribute to the endowment fund to help the hospital realise its vision. KATH raised 50.3 million cedis at the ceremony.
