KATH acquires Internet website

Kumasi, Sept. 10, GNA – The authorities at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi have acquired an Internet website to market the activities of the Hospital to the outside world. The website, www.kathksi.com, will help promote and projects the activities of the various clinical directorates and units of the Hospital and offer the opportunity to the people outside to get first hand information on research, medical care and other services offered by the Hospital.

The project is part of the computerisation and networking exercise being undertaken by the Hospital as part of its efforts to become a centre of excellence in medical care by 2008.

Dr Anthony Nsiah-Asare, Chief Executive of KATH, made this known to the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi on Friday after a briefing on the project by Pro-Resolve Limited, the ICT consultants on the project. He said the networking and computerization of the Hospital would help reduce paper work and speed up work at the various units and departments.

Dr Nsiah-Asare said the project had received support from some philanthropists and organisations and commended General Electric Limited for providing satellite dish and other equipment to support the project. He said Internet connectivity at the various units would enhance research work and offer the workers the opportunity to acquire their own e-mail account numbers.
