Kasuliyili (N/R), Feb. 9, GNA – The Baptist Child Development Programme, a Non-governmental Organization (NGO), has provided a health facility to the people of Kasuliyili in the Tolon/Kumbungu District to ensure quality healthcare delivery.
The facility which is meant to accommodate workers, was built at the cost of GH¢33,600 and sponsored by Francesca Young, a Canadian philanthropist, through the Christian Children’s Fund of Canada (CCFC).
The NGO had earlier built a clinic for the community but had to build the accommodation to provide a living place for the health workers.
Madam Sanatu Nantogma, Country Director of CCFC commissioning the project on Thursday, said the CHPs compound concept is an important and integral part of primary healthcare that brings healthcare to the doorsteps of the people.
She said the facility would provide hope for children of the community and meet the health needs of the elderly since nurses and other health staff could now stay in the community and provide 24-hour services to them.
Madam Sanatu stressed that the facility would also provide support for parents and help reduce maternal mortality and to contribute towards the post natal health of infants born in the communities adding that about 8,400 people were going to benefit from the facility.
Madam Hajia Safia, Tolon/Kumbungu District Director of Health Service, noted that the facility will go a long way to improve the health needs of the people adding that the area was facing some health problems with few health personnel to attend to patients.
She called on parents particularly mothers to visit the clinics and health centers for antenatal and post natal services to keep their babies healthy.
Naa Abukari Yakubu, Chief of Kasuliyili, commended the two NGOs saying he would welcome any individual or organization that would contribute to the development of the area.
He assured the NGOs that the clinic and its accompanying facilities would be protected and taken care of by the people to ensure it achieves its desired goals.
Naa Yakubu said education was the key to sustainable development and entreated the people to send their wards to school.
