Kasoa to benefit from phase two SIF

Winneba (C/R) June 30, GNA- Kasoa in the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District, is to benefit from the phase two of the Social Investment Fund (SIF), scheduled for 2006 to meet the basic social and economic needs of the people.

The District Chief Executive, Mr Solomon Kwashie Abban-Quaye who made this known at Winneba said population increase in the town had outstretched basic services and appealed for the support of non-governmental organisations and other stakeholders to improve on the situation.

Mr Abban-Quaye who was speaking at an SIF preparatory meeting at Winneba said the population of Kasoa increased from 863 in 1970 to 34,719 in 2000.

He said the number of registered voters in Kasoa during Election 2004 was 41,440.

“We believe that Kasoa… has far reaching implications for the socio economic development of this district and therefore must be tackled with all the seriousness its deserves,” he said.
