Kasoa GPRTU executive killed by a hit-and-run driver

Jei-Krodua (C/R), Oct. 22, GNA – The Awutu-Bawjiase and Kasoa Police have mounted a search for a hit-and-run driver who knocked down Mr Abraham Kofi Amonquandoh, First Trustee of the Kasoa Number One branch of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), at Palm Wine Junction, near Jei-Krodua killing him on the spot.

A police source told newsmen that the accident occurred in the night when the deceased was on his way to Awutu-Bawjiase to visit his family after the day’s work at Kasoa.

He said the driver abandoned his vehicle when he realised that his victim was dead.

Mr Amonquandoh who was driving his car is said to have parked on the side o the road when he saw the hit-and-run driver making a dangerous overtaking from the opposite direction. Unfortunately, he ran into the late Amonquandoh’s car killing him instantly.

Meanwhile, the executive and members of the GPRTU branches at Kasoa have expressed their condolence to the family of the late Amonquandoh. Executive members of the Kasoa Number One branch of the GPRTU have described the late Amonquandoh as a committed and hardworking leader of the Union, adding that, his death, had dealt a big blow to the Union.
