Karbo should be arrested- Tony Aidoo

Director of Evaluation and Monitoring at the Presidency, Dr Tony Aidoo has said the issues raised in the controversial secret recording linked to former New Patriotic Party’s Youth Organizer, Anthony Karbo are a threat to national security.

Earlier this week, pro-NDC advocacy group, Research and Advocacy Platform (RAP), made public an audio recording containing a voice alleged to be that of Anthony Karbo plotting several activities to scuttle the December 7 polls.

The group, through its convener, Felix Kwakye Ofosu asked the security apparatus to swoop in on the NPP man and ensure that his plot is foiled.

Speaking on Radio Gold’s new analysis programme Alhaji and Alhaji, Dr. Tony Aidoo took a swipe at the security apparatus for their apparent lack of interest in tapes he said constituted a threat to national security that are being orchestrated by political parties.

According to him, the recent secret tape of Anthony Karbo is “reckless and stupid” and equally endangers the elections as well.

Even though, the former NPP Youth Organiser has vehemently denied orchestrating any such plot, Dr Aidoo insisted the police must quickly move to arrest Mr. Karbo.

Dr. Tony Aidoo was quick to add that such “reckless and stupid” comments were not only exclusive to the NPP, but other political parties were equally guilty as well.

The Director of Monitoring and Evaluation at the Presidency stated that it is saddening the repeal of the Criminal Libel Law has given way to the politicization of speeches which the security apparatus appear handicapped at unraveling.

According to Dr. Tony Aidoo, such reckless statements made by political parties are a challenge to the growing democracy in Ghana. He added that it is time political parties stamp their authority and bring “irresponsible” their members to book.
