Kapital Radio former worker held for fraud

Kumasi, Aug 2, GNA – Twenty-eight-year-old Atta Agyapong who claims to be a former reporter of Kapital Radio has been ordered by a Kumasi circuit court to assist police trace the whereabouts of his accomplice, one Nana Osei, over an alleged fraud involving 331.8 million cedis and 500 US dollars. Agyapong pleaded not guilty to the charge of conspiracy and fraud and will re-appear on August 9.

Police Chief Inspector Francis Kusi said Agyapong met his accomplice, Nana Osei, the owner of Europa Travel and Tours at Abeka Lapaz in Accra where the former asked the latter to advertise on Kapital Radio his ability to take people abroad. Agyapong obliged and send the message across to the public and some people expressed interest in the deal.

The prosecutor said some of the complainants after contacting Agyapong made some payments to Nana Osei through Agyapong. He said during the processing of their documents, the complainants were given fake dates of departure. After realising they had been conned, the complainants decided to look for Agyapong since he is in Kumasi but could not locate him until the police arrested him at Obuasi on July 6.
