‘Kan Dapaah is not my brother’ – Kwasi Karikari Achamfuor

Opinion leaders of Affigya Kwabre District have vehemently debunked rumours that Kwasi Karikari Achamfuor, a top contender for the district chief executive (DCE) position of the area, is a blood brother of Minister of National Security, Kan Dapaah.

The group also described as a hoax and dirty propaganda, fabricated reports that Karikari Achamfuor, who is a dyed-in-the-wool member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Affigya Kwabre Constituency in the Ashanti Region, did not play any role in the NPP’s 2016 electoral victory.

At a mammoth press conference held in Kumasi on Monday, Sefah D. Gideon, secretary of the group, stated that the members of the ‘Concerned Youth of Affigya Kwabre District’ are the very people spreading the falsehood to tarnish Mr Achamfuor’s reputation.

According to him, credible information reaching them indicates that the Presidency had pencilled down Mr Achamfuor’s name as the next DCE for Affigya Kwabre District after he had excelled during vetting “and these unscrupulous people have started this diabolic mission to destroy him”.

Mr Sefah stated that his group would not sit down aloof for “these unknown people in the NPP at Affigya Kwabre District to be pushed by some hidden faces in our party to concoct wild lies to tarnish the image of a credible and innocent man like Mr Achamfuor.”

He warned all those who are fabricating lies just to tarnish Mr Achamfuor’s image to desist from doing so, stressing that President Akufo-Addo knows the calibre of people who can implement his vision to develop the country “so let the president decide who our next DCE is without any external pressure.”

Setting the records straight, he stated categorically that Mr Achamfuor played crucial roles in ensuring Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s victory in the 2016 elections, saying, “He supported the NPP with his money, logistics and also led our house-to-house campaigns.”

Mr Sefah added that speculations that Mr Achamfuor is a blood brother of Kan Dapaah is also a blatant lie, saying even though these two great personalities hail from Maase, a town in the district, they do not relate anyway as is being spread around “and anyone who doubts this can come and verify.”
