Ghana international Kamaldeen Sulemana has been named Southampton’s Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Community Champion for the 2024/25 season, in recognition of his outstanding contribution off the pitch.
The 22-year-old winger, who joined the Saints from French side Stade Rennes in 2022, was honoured alongside Meg Collett, who received the award in the women’s category. The annual accolade celebrates players who go above and beyond to support their local communities.
“This season we’ve been grateful for the engagement of both first-team squads in the work we do in the community,” said Sam Fulling, Managing Director of the Saints Foundation. “Kamaldeen and Meg were standouts, even in a strong group. We are proud to present them as our PFA Community Champions.”
Sulemana’s involvement in a range of outreach programmes, from mentoring local youth to supporting charitable initiatives, earned him widespread admiration among fans and staff alike.
Though it was a challenging season on the pitch with Southampton relegated from the Premier League, Sulemana’s work in the community has been a bright spot. The Black Stars winger made 30 appearances across all competitions, scoring twice and providing three assists.
With Southampton preparing for life in the Championship next season, Sulemana’s commitment to the club’s values off the field has cemented his place as a fan favourite.
