KAIPTC to hold course in disarmament

Accra, Oct. 5, GNA – The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) and the Pearson Peacekeeping Centre (PPC) of Canada would conduct a training course on Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) operations from October 10 to October 21 2005 at KAIPTC’s Teshie campus.

A statement from the Centre said 34 Military, Police and Civilian participants are expected from Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) including Benin, Burkina Faso, C=F4te d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo. Representatives of the ECOWAS Secretariat will also participate. The course aims to provide members of the ECOWAS peacekeeping community with a broad understanding of the issues, processes and contemporary experiences of DDR operations.
