Kafabar shooting: One more death recorded

One of the victims hospitalized at the Tamale Teaching Hospital following a shooting incident last Saturday night at Kafabar near Salaga in the Northern Region has died.

Frico Suala, 32 was among the sixteen people who sustained various degree of injuries when unknown gunmen with high power riffles opened fire on them whiles they were watching English football match in what is now linked to a longstanding kingship dispute between the kafabar and kalampor communities.

One person died in the sporadic shooting and another on Sunday when irate youth of kafarbar launched a reprisal attack on the kalampor community which they believed carried out the shooting.

This latest casualty has risen the number to three whiles over 14 more are still responding to treatment at Salaga and Tamale hospitals respectively.

Frico was shot in the left part of his ear and was being treated at the Tamale Hospital until he passed on Thursday, a relative Mohammed Fusieni confirmed to Ultimate News.

The body was being for burial in accordance with the Islamic tradition but Ultimate News checks reveal tension is building up in the kafabar community following the death of the young man which many described as industrious.

Many believe the death of the young man could trigger another reprisal attack.

The locals in the area have criticized the security of vacating the troubled areas during night time whiles tension is still high and only come to patrol during sunrises.
