Kade police arrests suspected armed robber

Kade, July 22, GNA- The Kade Police have arrested a 35-year old man, Asuo Gyebi, suspected to be a member of a gang of four, that attacked and robbed a toll bridge at Adankrono, near Kade of GH A2 600 on Saturday at about 0330 hours. Gyebi was arrested at Nkwantanang, following police investigations, the Kade District Police Commander, Superintendent Wisdom Akorli, told the GNA on Tuesday. He said the gang armed with locally manufactured pistols and a cutlass, and using a KIA pride saloon car with registration number GW 9787 W, attacked Mr Thomas Ahinkorah, toll collector at the bridge over River Birim. Mr Akorli said the suspects took Mr Ahinkorah together with his two assistance hostage, subjected them to severe beatings, took away an amount of GH¢ 600, locked them up and bolted. The Police Commander said from intelligence gathered that the gang might have come from Nkwantanang, they moved there, and succeeded in arresting Gyebi. At the Kade police station, Gyebi was identified by Mr Ahinkorah as one of those who attacked and robbed him. Mr Akorli said Gyebi had mentioned the names of his accomplices and the police was trying to get them arrested.
